Definitely sounds like a concussion. A coworker had a iron bar dropped on his head, passed out, and kept on working with pretty much the same conditions. After a week, we finally convinced him to go to the doctor... It takes longer to recover from a concussion if it's taken care of after a period of time. So I hope your friends goes to the doctor to make sure.
