Iron Man dates back to the early 60s or thereabouts, along with most of Marvel's lineup. Started with the Fantastic Four, and then things took off with Hulk, X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and a bunch of others (not necessarily in that order). Lara pointed out that there was even a '66 animated series.
And yes, Silverhawks had a very catchy soundtrack. Gotta give 'em that. And awesomme look. Just wish they'd done more with the concept.
And no, they don't make 'em like Thundercats anymore. My favorite, of course, was Panthro (ingenuity!), but Cheetara was pretty cool, too. (Actually, she's kind of hot. And able to move from room to room at incredible speed. And the only adult female in the group - the last surviving adult female, as far as they knew. All of which goes to say... "I'll show you a Thundercats Ho!" Oh no, he di'nt!)
I suspect that the Bruce Wayne overlap (probably exactly why Jarvis the human butler was created in the first place) is precisely why he became J.A.R.V.I.S. in the movie. As for the acronym, no I didn't know/remember that. Kind of hard to fit words to it, since they already had the name and spelling. I kind of like it. "Oh, it's nothing much, really. Just a rather... very intelligent system." "Thank you, sir. I think."
Yes, it was mentioned during Tony's intro at the awards ceremony that he was an MIT grad. So yes, I picked up on the implied college buddies connection when I saw Rhodey's brass rat. But then, I have reason to notice MIT-related things.
Largest in the hemisphere? CalTech might disagree with you on that, but I won't. (Of course, MIT has Harvard next door, but we make up for it as best we can... ;) )
Love your description, tho. That's great. XD
(And that, ladies and gentlemen, is an historic first! My first usage ever of the XD emoticon! A good thing? Or another step on the road to corruption? You decide!)
