The Woes of Wearing White Skirts

Dear flist, let me impart some essential, hard-won wardrobe advice to you. When wearing a short skirt above the knee, make sure to observe one of the following:
a)wear it with leggings,
b)wear tights underneath,
and also make sure;
i)that it is not white
ii)that it is not transparent
iii)that it is not flared
vi)that you don't wear it in a red-light street
v)that your parents never see you in it.
vi)that you notify your boyfriend's parents and grandparents that it was all really just an unfortunate, one-time, never-to-be-repeated wardrobe malfunction and you're actually wearing tights underneath anyway, so it doesn't really matter that much right?

Otherwise, what shall ensue is something akin to Nipplegate.

Note: These rules only apply if you live in as conservative a culture as mine, of course.

Sounds like an interesting little story might be behind these words of wardrobe wisdom. Hope this didn't cause you too much grief.

It would be nice if people who didn't live in a conservative culture would abide by some of these snippits of info as well - I can't believe some of the things people wear these days (and I'm really not a prude).

You have a habit of vanishing for ages and then popping up so suddenly it's like you were never gone in the first place! Where've you been? *hugs joyfully* Welcome back to LJ!

Erm, lemme see, I wore it with tights, so that's ok. Unfortunately, it was white, transperant, flared and I'm not entirely sure my street qualifies as a red-light street, but it is known to be frequented by hookers after 9. On the plus side, though, my parents never saw me wearing it, and I have sent the aforesaid message to my boyfriend's family via boyfriend, and he'd better deliver it.

Still, I had a narrow escape.

I've never cared much what people wore myself. If they want to make a freak show of themselves, that is entirely their business. And you never know when it's just some poor girl dealing with an ill-advised purchase, like mine. =D

Well, I wore it with tights, but the only thing that did not happen (mercifully) was that my parents never saw it. Otherwise, I completed well nigh the entire checklist.
