You know, that's pretty much how my grandparents got engaged. They were basically really good friends for a while, and then they walked past a jewelery store one day. Grandfather turned to grandmother and just asked: "So, shall we, then?" "Sure." and that was it.

This is a lot like the story of Jack and I. We were friends in college.

My second year, he said "Will you marry me?"

I said. "I want to finish my four years first."

After I finished my degree, he said "will you marry me?"

My mother said "You both need jobs first!"

We both got jobs in Rochester. We said "Well, it would be easier if we lived in Rochester."

My mother and his mother both said "You are not living together unless you are married."

I said to Jack "Well?"

He said. "Of course."
