Ya know, you could fit a LOT of the orphans I listed the other day into that model.

Actually, it's all based on The Hero's Journey. The concept has been around for millenia, though the Hero's journey was set out by a man named Joseph Campbell.

I know Lucas himself stated that Star Wars was based on this concept, and Kripke has mentioned that Star Wars philosophy plays heavily into the SPN cannon.
