Holy R.I.POFF, Batman!
Nov. 27th, 2008 09:58 am"What I am doing is a fate worse than death, things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all," Mr Morrison told Comic Book Resources.
"When we begin to suspect the identity of the villain, I think it's the most, like I said the other day, it's possibly the most shocking Batman revelation in 70 years."
The scans of the end of R.I.P Batman just went up on

Whut?
No seriously, WHUT. JUST. HAPPENED?
After all that hype, this is how they are going to kill off the freaking Batman?
Particularly in light of this post, the whole thing becomes even exponentially funnier.
Aha. Ahaha. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Kudos for sheer Whatthefuckery, DC!
They cancelled Robin, Nightwing and Birds of Prey for this. *headdesk*

Date: 2008-11-27 07:53 pm (UTC)Between this and the New Krypton stuff going on in Superman, I may well end up dropping all my DCU titles.
Thank goodness for Ultimate Marvel. And a couple of titles from companies other than the Big Two.

Date: 2008-12-17 06:08 am (UTC)I'm curious...what other well-known titles are there apart from the Big Two?

Date: 2008-12-17 10:34 am (UTC)But yes, as predicted, I believe I'm now dropping DC from my reading list. Sad, but there you are.
Outside of the Big Two? There are a whole bunch of little guys who come and go. And there are the medium guys. Dark Horse publishes Conan, a bunch of Star Wars books, and Buffy. Image has a variety of titles, but they're best known for Spawn and Invincible. (I read the latter, and also a couple of others from them.) Top Cow lives up to its name by publishing books about female characters who have "tops" of bovine proportions. They're best known for Witchblade, but they've got a couple of others, including Tomb Raider. There's another company whose name escapes me at the moment (Dreamwave?) who publish stuff aimed at children of the 70s and 80s - TMNT, GI Joe, Transformers, Voltron, etc. And then there's all the manga that I don't pay any attention to. Oh, and they're giving The Phantom another go. Maybe this time they'll do justice to the character. Red 5 is a small company with some fun stuff. I've been reading Atomic Robo. Oh, and Alex Ross recently started up Project Superpowers, which is about a bunch of Golden Age characters (some who actually had regular comics back in the day, some created in the style) brought forward (and changed along the way) into a disturbing present.
There's a lot of stuff out there, really. Something to suit just about any taste. I mean, besides all that, there's the whole Archie line that's still going. And Disney puts out a few books. And the Simpsons/Futurama have Bongo Comics. And... Previews Magazine, the catalog most comics shops use to order their stock, is over 1000 pages. Every month.

Date: 2008-12-17 06:10 am (UTC)Nobody is dead dead in comics. Anywho, I can't figure out all this continuity business. I thought there was just one continuity after the Infinite Crisis?
