It's over. My finals. I'm free.

So why do I feel like something terrible is about to happen and I've forgotten something? I feel like there MUST be some kind of assignment I've totally forgotten and must stay up and finish. Which is laughable because I have develpoed an eye twitch from sheer exhaustion.

Help! My exams have given me post traumatic stress disorder.

Also, my room is trashed, I'm dead broke and I still haven't got Boy a birthday present.

*folds up and moans*

*snore*

EDIT: ....and the other shoe just dropped. Only not from the quarter I was expecting.

Holy shit.

YAY for finals ending! Am sure you did great. And there's no assignment you have to finish, you exhausted yourself enough already. No need to add non-existent due papers to the lot.

All you have to do is, enjoy the rest of the month (are you Eid-ing, Xmas-ing, nothing-ing?) Whqat I meant is, enjoy december and... get Boy a Bday pressie! :)

er...not sure I understood what you wanted me to fill you in about...

Mostly I wanted to know what you were up to for Dec celebrations in Colombo. BTW, I have a girlfriend whose a commercial pilot that'll settle for at least weeks in Colombo and I thought of you. It's for business. seems they're reopening the airline here. 2 rotations per day, something like that.

I dunno about the rest of Colombo, but my family doesn't really do anything for Christmas. When the majority of the island is Buddhist and people are really feeling the economic downtown, nobody has either the means or inclination to celebrate. It's only the rich and the Catholic minority who have the glamorous parties and to-dos.

My family used to have Christmas tree for us when we were younger, but we kind of outgrew it. No gift-giving or parties and stuff, although we've occasionally taken advantage of the holidays to go on trips to the seaside. Most of the big parties happen at New Year's, but even those are mostly thrown by companies.

But that's okay, because the gift-giving part happens in the Sinhala and Hindu New Year in April (nothing too fancy though - mostly clothes) and no Christmas decorations can compare with the ones the cities put up for Vesak in May, with its giant pandols and processions and lanterns. That's when everyone goes out at night just to take in the sights of the city. SL is at its most colorful in May.

As for your first question, I just wanted to know what you were upto in you know, life in general. I haven't been following my flist much lately.

oh I see. Do you also have the festival of colours, like Kholi (or whatever the orthograph) in India, then? That must be quite someting to see and experience!

What am up to? Well moving from PAris to Britanny on dec. 30th and putting up with the stress...especially since things don't go quite the way I expect...Anyway, thriving on difficulties and preparing for a non-Xmassy Xmas with my mum. I mean, I celebrate Yule on dec, 21 on my own (well not exactly, online, too!) 'cause it's a wiccan thing and I don't mind, since my family don't know about my wiccan side, only my friends. But Xmas was always a tradition and my mum's and I like to not forget that so...

For my Bday, am likely to spend it with my uncle's family and my cousin, flying in from germany... Have been feeling blue 'cause I fear I won't be able to do everything I should on time and... that's pretty much all. Been ill as hell and all of it 'cause of asso duties.

How about you?

Congrats on surviving finals!

(I've got a little something - I hope - in the works, so this'll make a nice enough occasion.)

Am curious, though, about this shoe. It isn't one of the ones that flew over Bush's head, is it?

*Bats lashes* I knew there was a reason I loved you. Hee!

Ahahahaha! That. No nothing so serious as assault with deadly footwear.

Well, it's up. For whatever it's worth. Hope you're not disappointed. And that you can use it.

And glad to hear that things aren't quite so shoddy, after all.

The shoe wasn't too bad. It was just something that had happened to one of my friends.

Now I can finally concentrate on hunting up all those books you keep posting about. =D Before, I could only look on and salivate.

Who is the pretty in your icon?

Glad to hear your finals are over, but...yeah, I understand the dread of the dead-tired final unknown, when you look at your computer and are like, "Oh NO, did I actually turn that shit in?! Oh, God!" *Pillow over head because it's too late/early/you can't tell the difference anymore and you're too tired to deal with it.* Or else waking up every fifteen minutes convinced you've missed an assignment or a paper even though finals are over, because there's always some sort of complication that involves nakedness.

As for the Boy, telling them they're far too complicated and incomprehensible has always worked for me when I couldn't find a gift on time. Plus they tend to drop very useful clues.

Poor thing. I hope you have a nice, long, intellectually vacant holiday. You certainly deserve it.

Oh, God, yes. That is it, exactly. I had a vivid dream last night of my Public Relations instructor texting me saying that my research report sucked ass and she's expound upon why at length in the morning. The only upside to this is that there was no nakedness involved...

...until it somehow morphed into a dream about James Bond movie with a Bond girl who looked as pretty as Cillian Murphy in drag and turned out to be a transgender to boot. It was a very weird dream. And in retrospect, quite hilarious.

It would, if Boy hadn't thrown me a surprse party this year which he had planned for three months. Oh, the guilt!

Poor thing. I hope you have a nice, long, intellectually vacant holiday. You certainly deserve it.

I don't actually take to long stretches of intellectual vacancy too well. That is the thing about me. When I'm in the middle of exams I want to be on holiday and when I'm on holiday I want to be back at school. The universe has engineered it so I cannot win.

Hope you're doing okay Dasha. Btw, I finally understand your love for Mamma Mia. =D Finally went to watch it with friends a few weeks back.
