10 years ago I was: Eight. I can’t remember much about being eight. I associate Enid Blyton and Sweet Valley kids and Tin Tin with eight, but nothing really happened to me at eight. Which is definitely a good thing. Now being nine, I wish I could forget altogether. Features a horrible class teacher.

5 years ago I was: Thirteen. Man, that was the height of my Dork Ages. A fat, mousy bookworm in awful glasses and her school uniform belt falling above her stomach. Wasn’t a bad year though. I had a lot of friends. And it was the year I got to know about Harry Potter. My friend Manesha always had her nose buried in them and I just took one look at the cover and decided they were really too childish for somebody who had graduated from Enid Blyton a long time ago. I used to give her a lot of grief about it. Then one day, at the very end of the school year, I got so bored out of my mind, I just picked one up and began to read. And read. And read. The final bell rang just as Hermione said “Hagrid, you live in a wooden house!” . I was forced to wait another one and half months to finish the rest of the book but I was already deeply smitten. By the time school started next year, I was a committed Harry/Hermione shipper. That was before I read GoF, of course.

1 year ago I was: Seventeen and struggling with both my studies and my co-curriculars. Having decided that I’d had enough of the mousy-kid-whose-name-even-the-class-teacher-doesn’t-remember early that year, I suddenly became the Social Butterfly. I now wonder why I thought being a dweeb was such a bad idea. Having tried all the alternatives, such as Class Clown, Drama Freak, Da Cool Kid, Flirt, Nerd and Formidable Debator, I have now decided that dweeb-hood rulz! At least you get to keep up your grades. My latest role is Netspeak-Freak which one of my friends infected me with.

Yesterday I was: Oh God. Can we please not talk about yesterday?!  Fine.

Culmination of a three-day Junior Achievement workshop. We were to be interviewed for the Junior Achievement Annual Company awards. Went in at 8 o’clock in the morning, dressed to the nines, was interviewed at 10.30. In the night. In the Dark, Dank, Stormy, Murky, COLD night. Featured two sympathetic and impressed male judges and one tired and bitchy female judge. Went home at 11. Got home at 11.30. Had cold shower and passed out for my first real visit to the Land Of Nod in 48 hours. That’s right, I didn’t sleep a wink the preceding night because I was up finalizing my records. The only high point of the day was that I was able to exchange e-mail addresses with this guy I am totally ga-ga about. I don’t think he likes me except as a friend, but still, may be I can pull off a You’ve Got Mail! Although, Tom Hanks didn’t know who he was mailing. And I’ll never be gorgeous like Meg Ryan. Oh sod, boys!

5 snacks I enjoy: Woodapple and Orange juice (freshly squeezed!), Milo, Cream Soda, Coca cola. Or maybe  Pepsi, if I feel like doing that Bubbly commercial starring Shah Rukh Khan.

5 songs I know the words to: I hope you dance by LeAnn Womack, Travelling Soldier by the Dixie Chicks, I want to spend my lifetime loving you  by Mark Anthony and Tina Arena, Kal Ho Na Ho, Baate Meri Suniye  from Kuch na Kaho. That last one is quite an achievement for me, considering I don’t actually understand Hindi beyond the basics. Lucky my sis is fluent.

5 things I would do with one million dollars: Set up my own current account, set up trust fund for siblings, send the parents on that round-the-world cruise I keep promising them, buy the franchise of Cure Autism Now for Sri lanka and help set up an effective island-wide program to locate and educate autistic or mentally handicapped children.

Then, if I had any money left, I’m going on a shopping spree!

5 places I would run away to: I’ll just name the countries because the places are too numerous: Switzerland (Must see Alps!), Canada, Australia, Seychelles, Norway.

5 favorite TV shows: Lois and Clark ; the New Adventures of Superman, Gilmore Girls, 24, Charmed, Veronica Mars. And no I haven’t watched Veronica Mars. We don’t have cable. But I was so curious about what all the fuss was about, that I got down all the episode transcripts from TWIZ TV. It isn’t the same as watching it, I know, but the scripts do ROCK.

And yes, I have a Lois Lane fixation. Anybody else watched that show?

5 fictional characters I would date: James Potter, Harry Potter, Aragon, Legolas, Will from Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.

5 people I tag to do this: [livejournal.com profile] missile_envy , [livejournal.com profile] ajroald , [livejournal.com profile] anotherdreamer5, [livejournal.com profile] cherrychalk , [livejournal.com profile] lolaleila , [livejournal.com profile] lady0fshalot (so I can't count. Sue me!)

Aah! I wanted to tag YOU! Now why didn't I? Never mind. I'll just take Dasha off the list and tag you instead. This is not her sort of thing, anyway.

Har, har! YOU'RE TAGGED SISTAH!

I agree. Will is kinda like Harry, I thought, only burlier and more streetwise.
