Remembrance...
Feb. 6th, 2008 02:15 pmSri Lanka celebrated her 60th Anniversary of Independence the day before yesterday. Here is Prabhakaran's gift to the nation:
Bomb Blast at Fort Railway Station
Death Toll rises; nine schoolchildren killed.
Last rites for Slain Baseball Team Today.
Tigers and tears have no regard for race.
I have many friends from D.S Senanayake College. I can't imagine what they must be going through. It could very easily have been any of my own friends on that platform. It could have been me.
This was the terrorist group that George Bush, Eric Solheim and Ranil Wickramasinghe wanted to make us to make peace with. George Bush announced his stand while he was dropping bombs on Afghanistan hoping to hit at least Osama Bin Laden's pet dog, if he had one, and Ranil Wickramasinghe bought peace talks to the table only months after the Tigers reclaimed the Elephant Pass, killing over a 1000 Sri Lankan soldiers. I wish it were their dead bodies on that platform instead of innocent school kids.
Who is the LTTE?
You don't negotiate with monsters. You hunt them down and kill them until there isn't a single one of them left to spawn another.
I don't believe there is a God, because if there is, animals like these wouldn't be allowed to live.

Information's a tricky thing. it's source, thus objectivity too. And I'll shut up now 'cause am sure you got it.

Date: 2008-02-06 01:53 pm (UTC)I get infuriated whenever the media refers to the "ethinic conflict" in SL. This is not a Tamil-on-Singhalese war, and hasn't been for decades. This is about people inspiring terror, trying to force a totalitarian regime on half the country and abducting and brainwashing young children and turning them into suicide soldiers. I'm sure our govt's not half as squeaky clean as they appear to be, but then, what govt is? The bottom line is that the LTTE is an abomination and stands against what any decent human being should believe in.

Date: 2008-02-06 02:07 pm (UTC)but am with you on bottom line, govt cleaness and the fact, that it's a crazy mad world.

same happens in every totalitarian regime. Africa's (in its largest sense and continental geography) got those, too. Thing is, I never believed reigning by terror or inspiring terror was the way nor the privilege of great rulers. I still don't. I thing of it more as those of the weak and unworthy. For it's easier to do wrong and harm than good and kind ion the long run. But that's only a personal POV.
But then again, it's not everyday I can openly discuss it.
