To quote The Terminator: I"M BACK.
Jun. 6th, 2006 10:48 pmHiya, guys.
Remember me?
Five foot five, soon-to-be nineteen year old South Asian female with a whacked out sense of humour, a penchant for producing bad poetry, chocolate and forming sentimental attachments to inanimate objects. Went MIA for three months while she was shut up in a high tower without computer access by her cruel step-parents, forced to endure all kinds of torture at the hands of her Advanced level textbooks. Sundered from and pining for her LJ friends as her brain cells slowly died under the strain of her impending exams, and her faithful PC, Humphries, succumbed to his old age and died along with her hard drive, never to see is devoted mistress again.
Well, here’s the news, folks.
I’ve ESCAPED.
No more exams. No more homework. No more caring what happens to the floating exchange rate. It can take high dives for all it concerns me. No more accounts, period. No more! NEVERMORE!!!
I’M FREEEE!!!!!
I’ve left school, with all it’s starched, uniformed, sexually segregated, school-girl misery behind me!!! I’m home, at LJland, among my dearest LJ buddies once more! Do you guys have any idea whatsoever as to how much I’ve missed you!! Holly with her cross-dressing bedroom wall, Paro with her pom-poms and James Potter fixation, Tonya as, well Tonya, nuff said, Sanjana with her music, Miriam with her literary jewels, Dasha with her acerbic wit, Leila, Tricia, Anya, little Stevie-O whom I have yet to get to know properly and all my friends, all of them, even the people I’ve left out because my keyboard is smoking and beeping alarmingly at this point!!! I missed you! And I demand hugs and huggles!!
Bring on the streamers and champagne, people!! I’m turning nineteen on Friday! Last teen, here I come!! Let’s ROCK!!
PS: While their interest will be duly appreciated, people who are prone to ask questions about my performance at the exams are hereby informed that they will be summarily shot dead, exiled or otherwise inconvenienced. Thank you. Have a nice day.

Date: 2006-06-06 05:49 pm (UTC)I've been looking at my LJ birthdays and kept thinking, "Good Lord, I miss Hasini! I hope she comes back before her birthday, or I might not get to tell her Happy Birthday properly!"
I HAVE MISSED YOU SOOOOOO BLOODY MUCH AND I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY THAT YOU'RE BACK!!!! (and free, might I add :D )
WAHOOO!
HUGE HUGE HUGS, Dahling!!
Welcome home!! XD
So, do you have anything planned for your birthday?
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-07 03:12 am (UTC)Tonya, tonya , tonya! It's nice to BE home.
Eh, I have plenty planned for my birthday. I just don't know whether my parents purse can bear everything. A trip to the beauty parlor. My very first official one! Cos, you see, my parents stand on the matter was that no respectable school-girl need hang out at places where grown women pay outrageous sums of money to primp themselves. Well, as of today I'm NOT a school-girl! The Principal and her facist goons wield no more power over me! So Nyeah!!
But the very FRST thing I'm gonna do is somehow hunt down the second season DVD box set of Lois and Clark. I've been dreaming about it for months now, and every moment I wait i feel as if the purpose of my life is as yet unfulfilled. Last night I dreamt that I had entered the Triwizard tournament and won and got the DVD set as a prize. I was just about to watch it when I got bitten by a mosquito and woke up. It was heartbreaking!
Oh, my. You have an LJ buddy birthday diary? I should get one too. Did i miss your birthday Tonya?
Nuff about me. What's new with you? Better tell me all the unsavoury details right now, before I head over to your LJ and find out anyway!Oh, but the savoury ones too ;-D

Date: 2006-06-09 04:55 am (UTC)Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your comment. I wanted to be able to really devote time to this comment...you know...potential long answer and all. :D
So, where to start. Ah...first off...where you live...it's already officially your birthday...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HASINI!!!!!!!
I really hope that you get to thoroughly enjoy your day and do loads of things...even if your parents' wallets might not be able to withstand it. *chuckles* And here's to hoping you find the second season of Lois and Clark on DVD.
I miss watching that show. I really REALLY liked it...and then when I got good and hooked, they stopped showing the reruns. Stupidheads!
*heehee* That was quite an interesting dream that you had there. When two worlds collide...HP and Lois & Clark. *giggles*
Well, if you click on "My LJ" it'll list the birthdays of all your LJ buddies that are coming up soon. But...it only works if everyone has their birthdate in there. At least the month and day.
No...you haven't missed my birthday. It's not until December 29th which totally sucks!! But, ah well. Everybody always ends up missing it because of Christmas and New Year's and other holiday events.
Eh...not really much new with me. Just doin the same ole' work thang. I do actually have a nice professional looking website now for my photography, which totally rocks. Still writing my H/G fics...and am attempting my first Lily/James fic, which I swear I'll get back to working on one of these days.
Still nothing on the "beau" front. Single as ever. Course...I don't konw if you already know...but I've moved into an apartment with my sister and another girl. It's going great so far. With a few complaints about my roommates boyfriend staying over so much.
Erm...what else? Anything else? Nah...that's probably about it. This is what happens when you're in your mid 20s, finished with school and working full-time. I have no life. Poo.
Oh well, anyway...that's enough said about me as it is.
I sincerely hope that you have an absolutely terrific birthday, dahling!! You deserve it!!
*love you!*

Date: 2006-06-09 11:26 am (UTC)I've heard it's not that fun to have your birthday so close to holiday season. I thnk I did wish you last year, though. I hope so. Apologies if i didn't.
The new website sounds exciting! I've always wanted to see some of your work! Can you leave me a link if you aren't too busy? if you are, i'll hunt it up myself.
I also need to catch up on everybody's stories. I promised myself I'd start on yours the minute my exams were over. And I have, actually. Look out for my reviews!
You do so have a life! You work. I am just lazing about at home, waiting for my results, missing my classmates, wondering what the heck i wnna do with my life. I wish i ahd the gumption to do anything half as creative as photography. In my worst nightmares i dream I'm stuck behind a bank counter!!
To tell you the truth, I think i'd rather be decisively single than tentatively dating. I'm finally old enough to have a boyfriend (at least in my estimation) and am kind of going out with a guy. He's really nice and fun and handsome and anything, but the problem with dating in a culture like mine is that people always expect you to date seriously. Dating implies you are looking for a lifetime commitment. Otherwise you are something of a harlot. Me, i just wanna have fun. I've told everybody so, but I don't think they really understand. And I absolutely CAN"T tell my folks cos they'd freak. I mean, if he was a nice Sinhala Buddhist boy they could envision me having their grandkids with, they'd probably ease up a bit. But he's a Muslim and the family are gonna be worried i'm gonna marry outside the community. Arshad and I both know we're just funnin' round, and neither of us want to cause that much ruckus, but the question is, does everybody else?
I should have been born in a Western country. People are a lot more sensible about this sort of thing over where you live.
Btw, I'm REALLY missing Holly. Where is she and when will she be back? I read you talked to her. LJ dom isn't the same without her!
Gotta run. Lots of packing to do.
Love you to microcosmic bits and pieces!!!

Date: 2006-06-06 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you're free!
Meanwhile, MY exams are coming up. >.<
Grrr...
OMG, you're 19 on Friday? Happy early birthday!
♥

Date: 2006-06-07 03:16 am (UTC)Missed? You have no idea! Shall now proceed to check out your journal and find out all the stuff I missed.
You can't gripe about exams convincingly, Sanj. Don't attempt it. You're a born Hermione Granger! You'll sail through them! But good luck anyway!

Date: 2006-06-06 08:30 pm (UTC)*jumps on Hasini & glomps*
*beams* Dahling, I've missed you!!! I was going to say, if you needed any help breaking free I could come and help by brandishing my sceptre about the place, but looks like you got out just fine by yourself! XD
*waves pompoms hysterically*
*hands Hasini a special pair of Paro pompoms*
*beams*
*ENORMOUS, GIGANTIC HUGGLES*
Party time on Friday!!!! *pulls out party hats & poppers* Whatcha got planned? :D
Alas, I be falling into the clutches of dreaded exams in the next week, but never fear!!! I shall emerge victorious!!! XD
:D I've missed you. I hope this means you're back forever and ever and ever, now? :P
Love you tons, dahling!!! XD

Date: 2006-06-07 03:33 am (UTC)I was afraid you'd go and get married to Arjun Rampal before I could get back here. Then I'd have missed out my opportunity to be your bridesmaid and try and steal him away from you. You know, pull a My Best Friend's Wedding. ;-D
*Grabs Paro and spins her around in circle*
Yay for my princess Paro!! What's glomp, btw?
Oh heresy! i'd almost forgotten your sceptre! *bows low* Mercy, your majesty!
No darling. I'm not back for ever and ever and ever. I was taught that permanance is a myth and anybody who says otherwise will be lynched by my Deputy Principal. But I can tell you that I will be with you as long as LJdom endures, and I have an account in it. Can't say fairer than that! No more parental internet bans! Hooray!
I think i thought of you most these three months. Because i've had my obsession with Lois and Clark renewed and nobody was very amenable to pining for a show that went off air ten years ago. And I was thinking that if Paro were here she'd probably be as a big fan of LnC as me, and she'd be the only person i could watch it with me over a bowlful of popcorn and sisterly solidarity. Because you see, your the only person i know who enjoys great, soulful, everlasting romances and seeing a strong feminist personality kick reporter butt as much as I do!
I missed you, sooo much!! Love you tons, too!! We'll have an LJ paty on friday!

Date: 2006-06-07 07:00 pm (UTC)*hands over Arjun Rampal wrapped in a pretty red bow as early birthday present*
I have found a new obsession ... David Tennant, the tenth Doctor Who. *swoons* So Arjun is all yours, dahling. Unless, of course, you were going for a bit of excitement - in which case we can pull off the whole My Best Friend's Wedding story. XD I just have to make sure Arjun doesn't fall for me - I'm a very lovable person. :P
*is dizzy from spinning around, but keeps going*
*grins dizzily*
"Glomp" is ... er, well, to tell you the truth, I haven't a clue. It's one of those versatile words which can mean whatever you want it to. It has to remain a verb, though. XD
M'dear, you must not forget that you, too, are a monarch ... Her Highness Hasini, of course!!!! *hands over sceptre*
I shall make sure that the LJ Kingdom exists for many years to come, then. :D Waahey for an end to parental internet bans!!! *waves pompoms* When are you coming to the UK?
Lois and Clark ... *swoons* I'm melting as I see your icon, dahling. And I can't wait for the Superman movie to come out. :D If we ever meet up, we have to have an LnC night ... you, me, popcorn and LnC ... *grins* We will swoon and sigh over the romantic-ness of it all and spur Lois on like the feminists that we are!!! XD
Party on Friday!!! *prepares*
Love you!!!

Date: 2006-06-08 03:15 am (UTC)I say! What generosity! Nobody ever gave me an Arjun Rampal before!
I must look in on this David Tennant person myself. Can you believe how celibate I am when it comes to movies? I shall actively endeavor to correct this situation with your royal help.
Oh, my sceptre! Henceforth, we shall be called Ye Grande Olde Majesties Of Pom-Pomdom. And our kingdoms will have stamps of us wielding sceptres in one hand and pom-poms in the other!
Gawds. Ignore my babbling, love. I need my early morning Milo. Otherwise i tend to disgrace myself in front of the court.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the new movie. Although i'm actually more of an LnC fan than a Superman fan. Have you watched Lois and Clark? I assumed you hadn't.
Anyway, here's to pop corn and feminism!!!
You know, Paro, there are times when i strongly suspect that I love you!!;-D
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-08 08:47 am (UTC)Ah, David Tennant ... you've seen Goblet of Fire, I'm sure? He was Barty Crouch Jr. I didn't actually know who he was when I saw GoF, but once I started watching the Doctor Who series I was hooked. He is absolutely adorable. XD Dahling ... no worries about movies. We'll grab the popcorn and make a list of movies to watch!!!
Ye Grande Olde Majesties of Pom-Pomdom ... my, that sounds rather nifty. :D Oooh!!! Can the currency notes have pictures of us, too? *waves pompoms*
*huggles* Your babbling is what makes you you. You wouldn't be the same without it. :D We all love you for it.
I used to watch LnC when I was younger, but back then it was more of a sit-with-your-parents-while-they-watch-tv sort of thing. I don't remember much of it, just that Clark Kent was rather yummy. *hehe*
*toasts popcorn & feminism*
You know, m'dear, it's funny that you say that ... because I'm pretty positive that I love you too!!! XD
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-09 04:06 am (UTC)1. Watched Goblet of Fire
2. Read The da Vinci Code.
3. Watched any of the X-Men movies, let alone The Last Stand.
I think you now see how drastic my situation is. I'm Lane Kim at fifteen without the loose floorboard to hide my teenage audio-videophile stuff in! (Re: Gilmore Girls) I think at least ONE of the above may constitute a legal offense in some countries.
I gotta tell you. I was ten when i watched it first, so my crush was more on Lois Lane than Clark Kent. You know in the my favourite-Disney-Princess sort of way that ten-year-olds who think kissing is yucky have. But I got the first season box set down recently, and let me tell you, I'm ditching my husband and taking Dean Cain with me on my honeymoon. When I get married of course. tee Hee!
Nineteen today. Will celebrate by cleaning house and packing to go visit my godawful relatives during the entire weekend. I hope you don't think I am badly brought up for insulting my relatives dear, but these are the sort you really wish you weren't related to. Nuff said. The upside is that the universe will probably grant me nice in-laws to compensate. Thatti says that the mark of adulthood is that one must accept the trials of life with calm resignation and maturity. I am therfore going to go and pack calmly, resignedly and maturely, to go blow the weekend I wanted to spend watching goblet of Fire. And if I'm shutting doors and rattling the furniture with a bit more vehemence than strictly necessary, nobody could call it a tantrum, I'm sure.
I wish I were of as sweet and forgiving a disposition as you, Paro!
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-10 04:07 pm (UTC)*le sigh* I always did envy Teri Hatcher for starring opposite dear ol' Dean. That, of course, translates to: I wanted to pull her hair out for starring opposite dear ol' Dean. :P Now, just as long as it isn't Arjun you're ditching ... you have my blessings and support. :D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I realise it's late and I'm sooooooooooooo sorry for that!! I was out all day and night yesterday, and I felt so bad for not being able to wish you on the big day itself. But I promise you, I was thinking about you for most of the day. *huggles & birthday wishes*
Of course I don't think you're badly brought up for insulting your relatives. I'm not too fond of certain relatives myself, so it's all good. :D I hear you on the nice in-laws bit!! It doesn't sound at all like you were looking forward to it ... but I hope you had a nice time, anyway. :D And if shutting doors and rattling the furniture counts as a tantrum, I'm not quite sure what you'd class my violence and sulking as. XD
M'dear, you flatter me too much. You're one of the most wonderful and sweetest people I know. *huggles*
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-11 08:35 am (UTC)Thank you for the birthday wishes. Actually you wished me when I put up my post so you were actually an early well-wisher! So no guilt necessary! =D *huggles back*
I came, I saw, I came back. My relatives aren’t a bad bunch per se, they just…well, let’s just say that if we lived in Avonlea they’d be the Sloanes. Not as bad as the Pyes but still SLOANES. (re: Anne of Green Gables)
Well, what if do have tempers? Can’t let the men have the monopoly on hot air, can we? Hot-tempered people are interesting. History would be deadly dull if they weren’t there to start wars and insult their fathers and things. Besides, it is down in the constitution of Pom-Pomdom that the royal family is entitled to blow up every once in while.
I’m so glad you think I’m sweet and wonderful. It’s very untrue, but I’m still glad! =D
P..Paro, why has Holly cancelled her LJ? Where is she? The Bridesmaid Brigade is sans a sister! (Bridesmaid brigade as in you, me, Holly and Tonya, because of our mutual wedding pact)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-12 08:51 pm (UTC)Sloanes, eh? That must certainly be ... interesting? XD So far, you and I have LnC, Gilmore Girls and Anne of Green Gables (which reminds me, must read it again, I love it!) in common, among various other things *cough*Arjun Rampal*cough*. You like to read?
It is certainly in our job title to be hot-tempered. They were looking for a pair of not-so-even-tempered girls to govern Pom-Pomdom, anyway. :D I like making things explode. Perhaps we shall go down in history as the most exciting rulers of Pom-Pomdom ...
History would be deadly dull if they weren't there to start wars and insult their fathers and things.
*gigglesnort* I can just see Hitler fighting with his father about going to visit relatives on the weekend of his birthday, and then proceeding to stomp up the stairs and slamming his bedroom door shut before sitting down and writing Mein Kampf. XD
*waves pompoms for The Bridesmaid Brigade!!!*
And of course you're sweet and wonderful. I say so. And what I say goes. :P
(no subject)
Date: 2006-06-14 09:30 am (UTC)Course I read. Copiously. At least before I got hooked on fanfic.
I guessed we’d have a lot of similarities. We are both such girly, romantic individuals who fear our outward militant feminism will be marred by our secret indulgence in Mills and Boon novels! Am I right? If I’m not, please note that this conversation did not happen, and that I do not have a secret stash of Mills and Boon bodice-rippers featuring such inspirational titles such as Heart of Desire. Or that I binge on Danielle Steel novels when I’m depressed. Or that I’ve watched pretty nearly every single episode of American Idol season 5 religiously, seeing as how I actively despise this kind of pandering to the commercialized masses in their need for cheesiness and satisfaction of their sordid curiosity through the medium of reality TV which thrives on the ultimate degradation of human dignity. And I did not wolf-whistle at Chris Doughtry every time he came on TV. Nor do I collect all the Princess Diaries. And I do not have a pink perfumed pillow I call Huggy.
Because I am a new-age, liberated, intellectual dedicated to upholding the image of the modern independent woman who shall not succumb to the cult of the patriarch nor be exploited by the corporate hordes and therefore need not be viewed with condescension nor contempt of my peers.
There are times when I wonder whether our grandmothers really didn’t get the better deal, despite the fact that they didn’t have cable TV.
Nah. ;-D
But we really should compare interests. I’ve listed ALL of mine on my userinfo page. All and only the stuff I love passionately. You can check it out. But what do you obsess about on your sticking- pencils- in- the- ceiling time? (re: Fox Mulder)
Huh, I can’t quite picture Adolf Hitler doing that. I’d never have another tantrum if I could. I was actually talking about one of our most revered kings. He was a young hothead who wanted to go and off the Tamil invaders before he had lost all his milk teeth. Daddy the King had better self-preservation instincts and told him to go bugger off to his room and stay there until he built up an army. Whereupon the heroic young Prince thought “sod this!” and ran away from home, pausing to send his Dad a woman’s dancing outfit on the way. And while daddy King got in royal rage and a right blue funk, Mr. Hero decided to lay low till Daddy blows off and has various misadventures and capers with various village damsels, unknowingly creating numerous illegitimate offspring and folk tales for centuries to come. He finally did go and defeat and kill off the enemy King with the powerful army his insulted Pops had spent his life building for him, and despite the fact that the poor sod he offed is still revered by even the Singhalese as a pious and just king, and an all-round decent kind of guy, he is still hailed by our benighted populace as the most valiant and great rulers of our history.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example why I consider history to be nothing more than great public-relations.
Geez whiz, somebody really ought to shut me up sometimes. I have no reverence. None.

Nineteen. Wow. I'm turning that number too beginning of August. It's starting to creep me out, actually. I mean, nineteen? That's like...a big kid. Damn.
Anywho. Happy Birthday. And welcome back. And omg I'm so excited about all this.
*spazzes*

LOVIES AND HUGGLES AND EVERYTHING ELSE BECAUSE YOU'RE AMAZING AND DESERVE IT!
